Peace Garden Museum kicked off a series of Caribbean cultural activities entitled "Gathering at night of Cuba"

On July 7, 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in China, together with the China World Peace Foundation and the Beijing international Peace Culture Foundation, held the theme activity of "Gathering at night of Cuba" at Beijing Peace Garden Museum. Representatives from various countries in Latin America reviewed and looked forward to the current international situation, exchanges and cooperation and traditional friendship between China and Cuba, China and Latin America, as well as the Caribbean region of the "Belt and Road" cultural corridor, expressing the desire to strengthen cooperation and development. This is not only a demonstration of the positive spirit of epidemic prevention and resistance, but also an appearance and voice of friendship and solidarity in the current international situation..

Dr. Li Ruohong,Chairman of China World Peace Foundation and President of Beijing International Peace Culture Foundation, first welcomed the arrival of the Cuban ambassador to China, H.E.Mr. Carlos Miguel Pereira, and the envoys and their wives of Venezuela embassy and other countries. He proposed that this year is the 62nd anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cuba, and also the 50th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention on the protection of world cultural and natural heritage. Cuba is rich in multi-ethnic and multicultural world heritage. It has made outstanding contributions to the human development index in the fields of social security, medical treatment, agricultural technology and so on. The rich products and folk culture such as music and dance have unique charm, and the friendship between the Chinese and Cuban people has been strengthened for a long time. Since the first batch of Chinese came to Cuba in June 1847, the special friendship between China and Cuba has been established. Under today's volatile international situation, it is particularly valuable. The inscription landscape stone of President Castro and revolutionary leader Che Guevara, which is displayed in our museum, is visited by over 400,000 people from more than 100 countries every year. We have also carried out many activities of international significance with the Cuban Embassy in China.

The action plan of China and Cuba to jointly build the "Belt&Road" will help us to establish the "Belt&Road" Cultural Interactive Atlas with UNESCO, and open up the international space of the cultural corridor between China and Latin American countries in the new era. At the 50th United Nations Conference on human rights and climate change held here yesterday, I proposed that there is no peaceful environment without the harmony between man and nature, and an atmosphere of "peace +1" credit and balance of interests should be created. Let's jointly expand the influential circle of friends of the two countries, explore the source of the national cultural treasure house of the two countries, and benefit the cause of peace and the people of the world.

Ambassador H.E.Mr. Carlos Miguel Pereira of the Cuban Embassy in China first expressed gratitude to all sectors of society for their active efforts to promote the development of China Cuba friendly relations. He said: Solidarity is a quality deeply intertwined between the people of our two countries, and has always been one of the most prominent features of our bilateral relations. Just as the Chinese proverb said, "A friend in need is a friend indeed". The mutual support of Cuba and China in the multilateral field and the clear commitment to world peace and security have proved the particularity of bilateral relations and also demonstrated the common desire to build a more just and sustainable world for all.

He said: under the influence of the global economic crisis and the epidemic, Cuba has successfully overcome the epidemic and returned to the new normal. We want to take this day to celebrate these victories and thank our friends for their contributions to our fight. We have experienced difficult times, but we believe that through the humanistic spirit, creativity and great efforts of our people, as well as the support and help of fraternal countries such as China, we will win for sure. Cuba is and will be a stable, secure and united country. We have the ability to face great challenges with creativity and efforts. We will, as always, carry out our work in a peaceful manner with unswerving belief in victory.

Dr. Li Ruohong, Chairman of China World Peace Foundation, and Latin American diplomats such as ambassador H.E.Mr. Carlos Miguel Pereira and his wife, the wife of the Venezuelan ambassador and the minister counselor of Venezuelan Embassy, carried out a series of cooperation on projects such as the cultural corridor between China and the Caribbean and Latin American countries under the framework of the "Belt and Road Cultural Interactive Atlas", as well as the "Peace Garden Peace Festival", the celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries,the Latin American ambassadors wives’ planned visits and activities in Peace Garden.

Representatives from governments, enterprises, social organizations and foreign embassies in China attended the event, which began with the children's Chorus "beautiful Havana" and ended with the Cuban classic song "Dove" and the passionate Latin American dance.
